Linear LLC, a Carlsbad manufacturer of security devices for residential and commercial use, recently expanded into a second facility near McClellan-Palomar Airport, adding about 35,000 square feet to its existing plant.

The company said the addition is the direct result of Linear’s acquisition of 2Gig, a Utah business that makes home security and automation systems. Linear’s parent company, Nortek Inc., a Rhode Island based corporation, paid $135 million for 2Gig earlier this year.

Largely due to the acquisition, Linear increased its staff in Carlsbad by about 30 people this year, resulting in total employment there of about 350.

Linear CEO Mike O’Neal said the company is in the midst of hiring personnel for other key growth segments including health and wellness technology, security, and access control.
