Northrop Grumman Awarded $15.3M Contract Modification from U.S. Navy

The U.S. Navy recently awarded Northrop Grumman a $15.3 million contract modification to upgrade software on its MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft from Windows XP to Windows 7.

Roughly one quarter of the work will be done in San Diego, according to a Defense Department contract announcement. Northrop Grumman’s Rancho Bernardo office is the corporation’s “center of excellence for unmanned systems.” Work is expected to take one year.

The Triton is similar to the Global Hawk, which Northrop Grumman has built for the U.S. Air Force.

The Naval Air Systems Command of Patuxent River, Md., awarded the contract.
