Colorado-based OtterBox announced it has acquired San Diego-based LifeProof. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Both LifeProof and OtterBox make shockproof and waterproof cases for smartphones and tablets.
OtterBox employs 650 people worldwide. LifeProof employed 250. Company representatives said the local employees will stay in San Diego for the foreseeable future.
OtterBox has been a family-owned business since 1998.
