Thursday, May 16, 2013

Carlsbad-based ViaSat Inc. and a division of New York-based defense contractor L-3 said they plan to team up to provide high-speed Internet service to business jets.

The companies said they have signed a memorandum of agreement to provide aircraft — specifically the airline-sized planes used by heads of state or VIPs — with in-flight connectivity services, using satellite.

ViaSat specializes in satellite services and electronics. Its shares trade on the Nasdaq as VSAT.

L-3’s Platform Integration Division converts large jets for the needs of VIP and head of state customers. Company stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange as LLL.
