GreatCall, a San Diego company offering wireless products to aging consumers, said it plans to open a 20,000-square-foot call center in Reno, Nev., by June. The firm said it plans to add 75 workers by the end of the year, and 400 workers over the next five years.

The company says it currently has more than 500 U.S.-based, full-time staff. They include emergency response professionals, customer service representatives, 24/7 live operators and sales representatives at its two facilities in California.

GreatCall may be best known for its simple, user-friendly Jitterbug phone. It also offers 5Star Urgent Response, whose agents can assess a caller’s situation, identify the location, and determine the appropriate assistance when a customer is experiencing a medical emergency or a safety threat.

The company said its 5Star customer base has grown by more than 250 percent over the last 12 months.
