Carlsbad-based gaming publisher Playdek Inc. said recently that it raised $3.8 million in a series A funding round led by Qualcomm Ventures.
IDG Ventures and ff Venture Capital also made investments. Playdek said it received additional participation from existing investors Deep Fork Capital, Greycroft Partners, Jarl Mohn and undisclosed angel investors.
Playdek makes games for the Apple Inc. iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. One of the company’s specialties is adapting established board games for mobile devices.
The company recently announced a partnership with Hasbro Inc. subsidiary Wizards of the Coast LLC to adapt the Dungeons & Dragons franchise to mobile devices.
Joel Goodman is Playdek’s chief executive officer.
