TaylorMade-adidas Golf, the Carlsbad maker of golf clubs, golf balls and other golf equipment, said it did record sales last year of more than $1.7 billion, making it the largest golf company in the world.
TaylorMade said in the metalwood category, consisting of drivers, fairway woods and rescue clubs, was up 21 percent last year. The company also experienced high growth in the iron category which was up 32 percent, it said.
So far this year, TaylorMade said its sales have been strong, particularly in its R1 drivers and Rocketbladez irons, and adidas footwear.
Germany-based adidas Group is among the world’s largest sporting goods manufacturers and include such brands as adidas, Reebok, and Rockport. Last year’s sales were about 14.9 billion euros or $19.4 billion U.S. dollars.
