Developer Sudberry Properties will present concept plans for upcoming parks at its Civita mixed-use project, at a public meeting scheduled for March 12 in Mission Valley. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the development’s Circa 37 apartment leasing center, at 7800 Westside Drive.

A Sudberry Properties statement said plans will also be presented in the near future to the city of San Diego’s Mission Valley Planning Group and Serra Mesa Recreation Council. Those attending the March 12 meeting are asked to RSVP to

Landscape architect Glen Schmidt, principal of Schmidt Design Group, said project designers are incorporating feedback received from “hundreds of stakeholders” involved in planning for Civita over the past 10 years. Parks will incorporate the site’s mining history, topography and views of the San Diego River Valley.

There will be urban-style gathering places, open picnic areas, children’s play areas, gardens, meditative nooks, and jogging and walking trails, Schmidt said. Civita Creek, a naturalistic streambed, will traverse the site and handle rainwater runoff.

Over the next 10 to 15 years, phased-in plans for the 230-acre Civita include 4,780 homes and apartments, a 480,000-square-foot lifestyle retail center, and 420,000 square feet of office and related business space.
