Qualcomm Life Inc. is collaborating with New York-based online health information resource WebMD LLC to allow consumers access and to learn about their own wireless health data from a wide array of fitness, wellness and medical devices.
Medical device manufacturers are increasingly teaming up with app developers to help patients closely monitor their own health, digitally — and Qualcomm’s 2net platform helps these technologies become interoperable.
“We are delighted to be working with WebMD, the leading multiscreen source of health information for consumers and physicians,” said Rick Valencia, vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Life in a statement. “Our industry-leading 2net Platform will be integrated with various WebMD offerings to provide consumers and physicians with an industry-defining connected health experience.”
The companies said they are making biometric data available to consumers so they can manage their health and fitness. The firms said this will create more communication between digital health apps and third-party devices, so that consumers and physicians can build custom plans for their lifestyle and health care needs.
