The San Diego Association of Governments, a.k.a. Sandag, has scheduled two June meetings to discuss the next planned segment of the Inland Rail Trail Project, linking North County communities.
Residents and business operators can hear updated details and give input at the gatherings, set for June 5 at Vista Civic Center and June 12 at San Marcos Civic Center, both from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. More details are at sandag.org.
A Sandag statement said meetings are being coordinated with the County of San Diego and the cities of Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista. The rail trail project is part of Sandag’s long-term regional bicycle plan, with improvements generally located along the right-of-way used by the Sprinter commuter train line.
The next segment is expected to stretch for seven miles from San Marcos to Oceanside, starting at West Mission Road and North Pacific Street in San Marcos and ending at North Melrose Drive and West Bobier Drive in Oceanside.
A draft environmental document for the project has been completed and is available for public review and comment through June 26.
