Coronado-based R3 Strategic Support Group Inc. said it received a U.S. Air Force contract that could potentially be worth $55 million over five years.

R3 has agreed to provide explosive ordnance disposal to the Air Force.

The contract has one base year and four option years.

R3 said its support covers aerospace vehicle launch and recovery; force protection; weapons of mass destruction; nuclear weapon incidents and accidents; unexploded explosive ordnance recovery operations; operational range clearances and demolition requests; federal agency and civil authority support; and training to people living on military bases.

The Air Mobility Command administers the contract, which will allow R3 to support a variety of additional service options globally across all Air Force major commands.

R3 is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that hires former and retired explosive ordnance disposal technicians. David Sadler is CEO.

The business’s 2012 revenue was $4.3 million. The company ranked 31st on the San Diego Business Journal’s list of Fastest-Growing Private Companies, turning in 138 percent revenue growth over two years.
