Former Exec Mike Dee Returns to San Diego Padres as New CEO

One week after Padres CEO Tom Garfinkel resigned, the baseball franchise announced his replacement — Mike Dee, a former Padres executive.

Dee returns to San Diego from Miami where he was the CEO of the Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium since 2009.

Before that job, Dee was with the Boston Red Sox, starting as an executive vice president, and later being promoted to chief operating officer. While he was in Boston, the Red Sox won two World Series and set franchise records for attendance and revenue each year, according to a statement from the Padres.

Padres Executive Chairman Ron Fowler and lead investor Peter Seidler said Dee “has the experience, passion and intellect to drive this organization to great success.”

Dee spent eight seasons with the Padres starting in 1995 as the director of corporate development. He was promoted several times and last served as the team’s senior vice president of business affairs before departing in 2002.
