Irvine Co.’s 101 W. Broadway office tower in downtown San Diego was among 14 U.S. buildings honored by BOMA International, in its annual The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) awards competition.
The industry group, also known as the Building Owners and Managers Association, announced winners in several categories during its recent international convention, held at San Diego Convention Center.
The awards honor commercial office building features and management practices on a global level. Irvine Co. took the award in the 250,000- to 499,000-square-foot category.
A statement from Newport Beach-based Irvine Co. said the 20-story building on West Broadway, also known locally as the AT&T Building, was designed by Langdon and Wilson Architects and opened in 1983. It has been owned and managed by Irvine Co. since 2005.
The tower is located near Horton Plaza and has 401,444 rentable square feet. It houses a convenience store and two restaurants, with tenants including federal agencies, law firms and EvoNexus, a technology incubator operated by CommNexus.
Irvine Co. is San Diego County’s largest office space owner, with approximately 7 million square feet in the local market.
