El Cajon-based Taylor Guitars has introduced a new model of guitar — and it’s a big one.

The Grand Orchestra is among the manufacturer’s largest guitars, with a body almost 21 inches long and 5 inches deep. Taylor said its design team had originally wanted to “revoice” its Jumbo model, but ended up building a new model from the ground up. The new model has more capacity to support the low notes, Taylor said in its promotional material. Despite power at the low end of the scale, it offers “surprising balance and responsiveness for a big guitar,” Taylor said.

For now, Taylor is producing three models of the Grand Orchestra, all in limited editions. Taylor’s suggested retail price ranges from $3,518 to $5,658.

The Grand Orchestra made its debut at the recent National Association of Music Merchants show in Anaheim.
