Dunkin’ Donuts plans to expand its presence in San Diego County and elsewhere in Southern California, as it seeks franchisees for restaurants expected to open starting in 2015. The company’s only current Southern California location is at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton near Oceanside.

A statement from Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc. said the company is recruiting multiunit franchisees for San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and Ventura counties. The company said it is also interested in identifying qualified food-service operators for non-traditional venues including universities, casinos, military bases, supermarkets, airports and travel centers.

Grant Benson, Dunkin’s vice president of development, said the company is looking for California franchise candidates with food service, operations and real estate experience.

Dunkin’ Donuts announced the opening of 291 net new locations nationwide during 2012, with plans to open 330 to 360 this year. The company did not specify how many were planned for Southern California.

The donut chain has 10,000 locations in 32 countries and reported 2011 global sales of approximately $6.4 billion. Dunkin Brands Group has headquarters in Canton, Mass., and also operates Baskin Robbins ice cream stores.
