ViaSat Inc., the Carlsbad maker of satellite equipment, reported a fiscal 2013 third quarter net loss of $20.8 million, compared with a net profit of $5.1 million for the like quarter of the prior fiscal year.
Revenue for the quarter was a record $286.4 million, up from $205 million in the like quarter of FY 2012.
For the nine months ended Dec. 31, 2012, ViaSat reported a net loss of $43.1 million, compared with a net profit of $14.9 million in the like period of the prior fiscal year.
ViaSat said in the past nine months ended Dec. 31 it obtained new contract awards of more than $1 billion. Over the nine months, the company said its adjusted earnings before taxes and depreciating costs were $122.5 million.
