San Diego-based Calbiotech Inc. announced it bought Sacramento-area Moduline Systems Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

Calbiotech, founded in 1997 with about 30 employees, manufactures blood, saliva and research animal testing kits. Moduline, launched in 1994 and employing four, supplied materials for Calbiotech to develop its test kits and will continue to do so, the companies said in a statement.

“After working closely with Moduline Systems for 15 years, a great relationship was forged between our organizations that led to this merger,” Calbiotech Vice President David Barka said in a statement.
