Locally based Phil’s BBQ has opened its newest restaurant inside Terminal 2 at San Diego International Airport. It is the fifth San Diego County location for the company, led by owner Phil Pace.
Airport officials said the new eatery will be open seven days a week, serving the company’s barbecued ribs, sandwiches and side items, along with breakfast-oriented offerings. Pace’s company has been in operation since 1998.
The airport Phil’s is among several new locally branded retail stores and restaurants to open as part of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s concession development program. When the program is completed in early 2014, the airport will have added 87 new businesses, including local and international concepts.
