Sparql City Inc. of San Diego received nearly $10 million in funding, it said in a recent securities filing.
Its product, called Sparqlbase, helps users understand and manipulate big data, the company said. Sparqlbase is designed for direct use by data analysts and data scientists without the need for complex programming skills. The company website said the product has been under development since late 2011.
The filing said that a portion of the offering — slightly less than $8 million — was paid for through the transfer and license of intellectual property.
Sparql City said the entire offering of $9,999,970 will be used for general corporate purposes.
