Sony Electronics, based in San Diego, said it’s rolling out three remodeled retail stores to complement a Sony Gallery store that opened this week at Westfield’s UTC Mall.
The three new stores to be opened in the next few months will be in Fashion Valley Mall in Mission Valley, Miami and Orlando, Sony said.
Sony said it’s opening other gallery stores in New Jersey and San Francisco next month, with additional locations planned in other shopping centers across the nation.
The galleries offer Sony’s televisions, cameras, computers, audio products and services.
“We’re creating a new way to shop for consumer electronics,” said Mike Fasulo, Sony’s executive vice president of sales operations.
Similar to what Apple has done with its retail outlets, Sony said the stores are intended to be “a unique destination where consumers can explore, discover and compare the best of Sony in one place, from electronics products to popular music, the latest movies and thrilling games.”
Among the services provided at the remodeled stores are installation and product personalization, along with technical support for their equipment.
