Bicycling to work can help workers save money, reduce stress, and get fit. And it can be a way to bond, or at least bring together, co-workers for a shared goal, says the San Diego Association of Governments, the regional transportation planning agency that’s sponsoring a Bike to Work Corporate Challenge during the month of May.

Sandag reminds interested companies that the deadline for entering the challenge is April 12. Applications can be found on

The month-long challenge encourages companies and organizations to compete within their size category for the highest number of cyclists during May.

Last year, a record 70 organizations and 101,000 riders competed in the challenge, Sandag said.
