In recognition of April being National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Month, the U.S. Small Business Administration, AARP, and the North San Diego Small Business Development Center hosts a free training event aimed at entrepreneurs over the age of 50.

The half-day session April 23 is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and incudes a continental breakfast, and will be held at the Park Avenue Community Center, 210 Park Ave. in Escondido.

In addition to the sharing of some success stories, the event includes two workshops on operating a home-based business and cost effective ways of marketing a business.

It concludes with a panel discussion on traditional and alternative ways of financing a small business.
