Filippi’s Pizza Grotto is coming to Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach, according to Bob DePhilippis, a member of the restaurant chain’s founding family.

The business could be open by mid-December, he said.

“It was going to be El Cajon or Imperial Beach,” DePhilippis said. Filippi’s has 14 restaurants, with most in San Diego County. Generally, they are five miles away from each other, DePhilippis said.

DePhilippis’ daughter, Michelle DePhilippis, will own the Imperial Beach restaurant.

The building has about 4,000 square feet and formerly housed a seafood restaurant. Bob DePhilippis said he signed a 10-year lease on the building.
