Bank Gives Armchair Sportscasters a Microphone

By Mike Allen Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Calling all hard-core Charger fans, and you know who you are after that Sunday debacle at the Q against the Atlanta Falcons.

Union Bank, with about 60 branches in the county, is joining with the San Diego Chargers to find the best amateur sports announcer.

The winner for the contest that ends Nov. 27 gets a pair of tickets to Chargers’ home games for the 2013 season.

Contestants can upload a video of their renditions of one of six recorded plays.

The videos will be posted online for community voting, and judges will select the finalists based on who gets the most votes, the bank said.

Lawrence Henry, Union Bank senior vice president, said the contest is a fun way to engage the bank’s customers and capture the enthusiasm of all Charger fans.

For official rules, a chance at immortality as a Charger announcer, and maybe a chance to take Hank Bauer’s job, visit www.armchairsportscaster.com, or your nearest Union Bank branch.
