Tuesday, October 16, 2012

The World Trade Center San Diego recently presented its 2012 business leadership awards.

The Exporter of the Year Award went to Chula Vista-based CMF Global Inc. The company deals in pipe, producing its own line of products and exporting the products of 35 U.S. manufacturers.

Importer of the Year honors went to Solterra Lighting, a division of Seawind International Inc. Solterra is based in Carlsbad.

The Service Provider of the Year Award went to D&K Engineering of Rancho Bernardo. D&K is a contract manufacturer that can also help companies design and engineer their products. It offers domestic and offshore manufacturing services.

Bella Heule, a familiar face to the San Diego business community, won the 2012 Essence of World Trade award. Heule was previously president and CEO of the World Trade Center San Diego. She is now vice president of the World Trade Centers Association in New York.

More than 300 people attended the awards ceremony at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. The awards recognize the companies, people and technologies of San Diego and Imperial counties — ones that embody the best of the international business community and outstanding achievement in exports and imports.
