Five thousand people, the majority of them information technology specialists, are expected to attend the MobileCon 2012 conference Oct. 9-11 at the San Diego Convention Center, according to show organizers.
CTIA – The Wireless Association is producing the show focused on mobile information technology.
The event is geared toward small, medium and large businesses, said show director Robert Mesirow.
One of the key “pain points” show presenters will address is BYOD, or bring your own device, and the security concerns that approach brings to a computer network. “It’s a huge issue right now with IT departments,” said Mesirow.
Keynote speakers for the conference include Scott Griffith, chairman and CEO of Zipcar; Steven Trilling, chief technology officer of Symantec; and Bridget van Kralingen, senior vice president of global business services at IBM.
Offering some perspective from the U.S. Department of Defense will be Air Force Maj. Gen. Robert Wheeler, deputy chief information officer for command, control, communications, computers and information infrastructure.
