LRAD’s ‘Sound Cannon’ Goes to the London Olympics

By Brad Graves Monday, June 18, 2012

LRAD Corp.’s high-volume “sound cannon” will apparently be used for security at the London Olympic Games, which begin on July 27.

BBC and Reuters reported that authorities in the United Kingdom will have at least one of the devices on hand to hail boat traffic on the River Thames.

LRAD’s sound systems can amplify messages so they can be heard clearly over long distances, or they can emit a painful alarm tone.

Authorities in Chicago demonstrated an LRAD device in the days before the NATO Summit in mid-May.

LRAD is based in Carmel Mountain Ranch. Company shares trade under the symbol LRAD on the Nasdaq.
