The W San Diego hotel in downtown San Diego has completed a $5 million renovation, including changes to its lounges, signature restaurant, rooftop bar and meeting spaces, operators announced June 12.

Changes include a new design and colors for its lounge-like Living Room area. The hotel’s new restaurant, named Kelvin after the temperature metric and serving Latin-influenced items with locally sourced ingredients, is led by Executive Chef Kevin Harry, a 23-year culinary veteran.

Rooftop at W San Diego, its bar with a bonfire theme, now has a “playful sculpture” of stacked beach chairs and five private cabanas.

The 258-room property opened in 2002 at 421 West B St., and is operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. The property was acquired last year by Boston-based Rockpoint Group for $56 million.
