Women’s clothing retailer Ann Taylor, a division of Ann Inc., plans to open its first local store based on a new national concept, on July 13 at Fashion Valley mall in Mission Valley.

Francine Miley, Fashion Valley’s director of marketing and business development, said in a June 5 email that the store will be located on the mall’s first level, near Macy’s.

New York-based Ann Taylor said in a statement that the San Diego location will be the sixth in California operating under a new concept designed to provide “a more intimate shopping experience that is chic, warm and inviting.”

The stores have a residential feel, with maple hardwood floors, crystal chandeliers, modern furniture and sleek fixtures. There is a broader assortment of product than standard Ann Taylor stores.

The company has been opening the new-concept stores since fall 2010 in several major cities, including New York, Boston, Chicago and Washington, D.C., the statement said.

Fashion Valley, San Diego County’s largest regional mall, is owned and operated by Indiana-based Simon Property Group Inc. The mall recently underwent a $15 million renovation and has added several new retailers over the past year.
