Balfour Beatty Gets $35.5 Million Order for Pendleton Hangar Project

The San Diego office of Balfour Beatty Construction has received a task order of approximately $35.5 million, to replace an existing double hangar at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton near Oceanside.

A recent U.S. Defense Department statement said the order stems from a previous multiple-award construction contract. Work includes demolishing an existing hangar and constructing a new two-bay hangar to accommodate MV-22 aircraft, with space to support maintenance operations.

A planned modification, if issued, would provide for new furniture, fixtures and equipment. The contract contains options which, if exercised, will bring the total contract value to just over $35.6 million, the statement said.

Work is expected to be completed by August 2015. Nine proposals were received for the task order by the contracting entity, the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest in San Diego.
