Arizona-based restaurant chain Pita Jungle plans to open its first San Diego location in mid-April in the Hillcrest neighborhood, at 1045 University Ave.

A Feb. 14 statement said the eatery will open in the renovated Charles Jurman building, a historic structure that has been restored to its original exterior design. The restaurant will incorporate historical elements in its design and décor.

The 150-seat, full-service restaurant will feature an outdoor patio, a wood-fired oven, open kitchen and a bar serving boutique wines and craft beers.

Pita Jungle’s menu includes salads, burgers, wood-fired pizzas and fresh seafood. The company, with headquarters in Scottsdale, has 17 locations in Arizona and California.
