The Golden Door Spa in San Marcos has been sold for $24.8 million, according to the listing broker for seller Golden Door Owner LLC of New York City. The name of the buyer was not disclosed.

The 41-room luxury spa and resort is located on 377 acres at 777 Deer Springs Road. It includes a 5,118-square-foot hotel building that was constructed in 1958 and rebuilt in 1975.

The property was free and clear of existing debt at the time of sale, according to a statement from listing broker Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP, also known as HFF.

The resort includes 20 miles of hiking trails, indoor fitness areas, swimming and therapy pools, a Japanese-style bathhouse and archery range. There is also a 122-acre avocado orchard, with organic vegetable and fruit gardens.

HFF said the deal included ownership of The Golden Door brand and future resort expansion opportunities.
