Competitor Group Inc., the San Diego sports media publisher and organizer/owner of recreational events including the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon series, said its management team along with Calera Capital, a private equity firm, acquired CGI from Falconhead Capital for an undisclosed price.
CEO Scott Dickey and Steve Gintowt, the CFO and COO, will continue to lead the company.
Falconhead Chairman David Moross said CGI has grown dramatically and realized the potential that it had for the business when it acquired it five years ago.
CGI operates 83 events around the world, publishes five media titles including Competitor, and owns a digital registration platform called RaceIt.com.
Calera Capital Managing Partner James Farrell and Managing Director David Lorsch led Calera’s investment in CGI and join its board of directors.
