The U.S. Navy has awarded a $7.3 million task order to a locally based joint venture, Rore-ITSI JV LLC, to build a ground control tower at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii.

The partnership includes construction services providers Rore Inc. of San Diego and Innovative Technical Solutions Inc. of Walnut Creek.

A Defense Department statement said the work, part of a previous multiple-award contract, calls for construction of a control tower cab, office, electrical and communications equipment room, and related facilities. The project includes installing site utilities, communication services, ventilation, fire protection and other internal systems.

Work will be performed in Oahu, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed by March 2014. The Navy received three proposals for the task order.
