German-based contract research organization Verum is opening a new office in Carlsbad to make its clinical trial services more readily available to biotech and pharmaceutical clients in the region and throughout the nation.
Kristi Clark, an industry veteran who is managing the local office, said the location suits Verum’s strategic interest in working with West Coast biotechs, particularly in San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.
With expertise in running clinical trials in Central and Eastern European countries, Verum says it can offer clients faster patient enrollments, more affordable trials, and the ease of working with a contract research organization that practices Western standards for clinical trials and bridges cultural differences.
Clark said conducting trials in such places as the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus is becoming more common as people become more comfortable with it and realize the quality is there.
As the Carlsbad office gets established, project managers will be hired to be liaisons for clinical trials running in Central and Eastern European countries. Verum can also assist with registering drugs for commercial use in those countries.
Based in Munich and founded in 1992, Verum has more than 100 office-based employees operating out of eight locations.
