Owners of Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa are planning a six-month, $20 million renovation of the Rancho Santa Fe luxury property, set to begin in January.
A Nov. 1 statement said the makeover, expected to be completed by summer, will include remodeling of suites, with additions and enhancements to reception, dining, fitness and meeting spaces.
The 49-suite resort will get a new conference room, a remodeled ballroom and boardroom, and an enhanced patio for social functions and corporate meetings. The property’s spa and fitness center will add a yoga pavilion, Pilates studio and expanded workout facilities.
The resort, managed by Mill Valley-based Auberge Resorts, was acquired in May 2010 by a San Diego-based investment group led by former Qualcomm Inc. executives Jeff and Hal Jacobs. The group’s general partners also include Fiji Water co-founder Doug Carlson and local developer Jeffrey Essakow.
Rancho Valencia was developed and opened in 1989 by previous owner Harry Collins, and was last renovated in 2006.
