San Diego International Airport has installed a new mural paying tribute to San Diego’s aviation and cartooning history, ahead of the July 21 start of Comic-Con International.
Titled “The Sky’s the Limit,” the mural was created through a collaboration of 19 Southern California cartoonists. It includes images of the late Comic-Con founder and San Diego resident Shel Dorf, a noted cartoonist who lettered comic strips including “Steve Canyon.”
It also has images from Charles Schulz’s “Peanuts,” depicting the character Snoopy as a vintage fighter pilot.
The mural, located on the Terminal 1 pedestrian bridge, was installed May 26.
