Renovation Planned at Grande Colonial Hotel

The historic Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla is set to undergo a $500,000 renovation starting Dec. 18, operators announced Dec. 2.

A statement said the project, to be completed in early January, includes a makeover of the hotel’s entry and foyer, lobby and surrounding public spaces, along with three adjacent meeting rooms.

The 93-room hotel will remain open, with its La Jolla Room, located just off the main lobby with direct access to Prospect Street, to be used as a temporary lobby area and entrance during the three-week renovation.

The refurbishing is led by Warren Sheets Design Inc., a San Francisco-based architectural and interior design firm known locally for its work on The Grand Del Mar resort in Carmel Valley.

New wall coverings, paint, lighting, furniture and artwork will be added. One of the meeting rooms, the Sun Room, which was the hotel’s original lobby in 1913, will also receive new entry doors, cabinets, a buffet station and window coverings.
