Neighborhood House, Health Center Team Up

Two San Diego community organizations are joining forces to enhance health care assistance to 8,000 San Diego County preschool children. According to an Oct. 26 press announcement, The Neighborhood House Association and San Ysidro Health Center will work to expand health service offerings to preschoolers through NHA’s Head Start program, as well as expectant mothers and toddlers served through its Early Head Start program.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

As part of its Head Start operations, NHA provides comprehensive health services for children up to 5 years of age, including hearing, vision and dental screenings, as well as immunizations.

“This new community-based partnership allows our health center to further advance our school readiness initiative for preschool- and elementary-age students,” said Ed Martinez, chief executive officer of SYHC.

NHA offers programs in more than 100 locations throughout San Diego County. San Ysidro Health Center has been offering low-cost, primary health care services to county residents since 1969.
