Cymer Sees Quarter Looking Up

Cymer, the San Diego maker of equipment used in the production of computer chips, said Sept. 14 that third quarter revenue will be about 30 percent better than its second quarter revenue of $62 million, or about $80 million.

Cymer said the demand for new light sources has increased while its maintenance of installed products has continued to rise as business conditions in the lithography sector have strengthened.

Cymer issued a previous third quarter forecast of 15 percent increase in revenue over its second quarter results.

Traded on Nasdaq under CYMI, shares rose by 18 cents to $36.99 in midday activity Sept. 14. Its 52-week range as of that day was $16.66 to $37.43.
