The Pentagon has tapped Harper Construction to build homes for the next generation of Marine recruits.
Harper received a $56 million award to build two barracks able to house 1,700 people at Marine Corps Recruit Depot. The builder will also put up a sports medicine and reconditioning therapy clinic.
The design-build project is slated for completion by May 2011.
The Pentagon announced the deal Aug. 18. Options on the contract could increase its value to $66 million.
The Navy reported receiving 15 proposals for the project.
