Jaynes Corp. in San Diego has completed construction on two major facilities at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, marking the beginning of a $50 million plan for the site.
Designed by the California Construction Authority, the new 40,700-square-foot multipurpose building will be used as a barn and for trade shows, while the 40,828-square-foot livestock facility also will be used for community events.
Valued at $14 million, the buildings are located next to the fairgrounds’ grandstand area.
The master plan also provides for a new exhibit hall, a roof over the horse arena, and possibly a hotel with about 200 rooms.
The team for the California Construction Authority included Peter Tiche, construction manager; and William Willis, architect.
Jaynes’ team included Chuck Neumann, superintendent; and Doug Muirheid, senior project manager.
