Bay Area Company Beefs Up With Flexx Purchase

MadeToOrder, a Bay Area company that specializes in creating branded apparel and merchandise for other businesses, announced Nov. 14 that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Flexx Inc. of San Diego.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MadeToOrder will offer both cash and stock.

Flexx, based in the Miramar area, creates custom branded merchandise and counts several action sports companies as clients. It has seven employees. Four people “on the revenue side” will make the transition to MadeToOrder, said Rod Brown, chief financial officer of MadeToOrder.

MadeToOrder, based in Pleasanton, has 27 employees and had $11 million in sales during 2005.

Flexx is projected to have $2 million in sales in 2006.

Matt Poel, vice president at Flexx, will be a vice president at the acquiring company and will be in charge of its San Diego office.

Brown said he hopes to close the acquisition by Nov. 30.

Certified Marketing Consultants Ltd. of Huntertown, Ill., acted as an adviser to MadeToOrder.
