Hurd to Lead HP

Hewlett-Packard Co. has named Mark Hurd as its chief executive, the company reported Tuesday.

Hurd comes from Dayton, Ohio-based NCR Corp., where he was president and chief executive.

Hewlett-Packard, based in Palo Alto, has roughly 2,000 employees in Rancho Bernardo, which is home to the company’s printer division. Rancho Bernardo is home to more than 1,000 NCR employees, who work at a division called Teradata.

Hurd succeeds Carly Fiorina, whom the Hewlett-Packard board ousted in February.

Some had speculated that one of HP’s San Diego-based executives, Vyomesh Joshi, would get the top job at Hewlett-Packard.
