Navy Awards Two San Diego Companies Multimillion-Dollar Contracts for Radio Work

Friday, August 16, 2013

The U.S. Navy awarded two San Diego-based businesses — Koam Engineering Systems Inc. and Tactical Engineering & Analysis Inc. — multimillion-dollar contracts to test radios and other electronics.

An Arizona business received a similar contract and plans to do 40 percent of its work in San Diego.

The value of the contracts is unknown since they are indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity deals.

Koam Engineering could earn up to $47.1 million over five years. If the government extends the contract to seven years, the deal could have an $80.6 million ceiling.

Tactical Engineering could earn up to $52.9 million over five years. If the government extends the contract to seven years, the deal could have a $90 million ceiling.

A third business, Assured Space Access Technologies Inc. of Tempe, Ariz., will compete for task orders on the work.

Spawar Systems Center Pacific awarded the contracts.
