WD-40 Co. recently reported that it is reviewing “strategic alternatives” for its home care and cleaning products business, particularly in the Americas. The company said that its board approved the review in March, and that so far, the company has made no decision on what to do with the brands.
Its home care and cleaning brands include Lava soap, X-14 mildew stain remover, 2000 Flushes toilet bowl cleaner and Carpet Fresh deodorizer.
The company said it is increasingly focused on multipurpose maintenance products, including 3-in-One oil and products marketed under the WD-40 and Blue Works brands.
WD-40 also reported results for the second quarter. The company, based in San Diego’s Morena district, had net income of $10.5 million on net sales of $86.7 million in the quarter ended Feb. 28. In the year-ago quarter, it reported net income of $10.6 million on net sales of $86 million.
For the half, WD-40 reported net income of $21.4 million on net sales of $182 million. The comparable period last year produced net income of $17.4 million on net sales of $170.9 million.
WD-40 sells its products worldwide. Shares of company stock trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol WDFC.
